                      Village of Hobart in Honor of Community Photographer

                  Anna Carroll                

 

WHEREAS,  the Village of Hobart proudly recognizes Anna Carroll

(1895-1925), a trailblazing resident and gifted photographer who documented the evolution of our community; and

 

WHEREAS, Anna Carroll dedicated her life to the spiritual and social fabric of Hobart, serving as a devoted Sunday School teacher for the Hobart United Methodist Church, where her impact on the youth of our village is permanently memorialized in a beautiful stained-glass window dedicated in her hour; and

 

WHEREAS, her legacy of service inspired the formation of the Anna Carroll Circle, a group that remained a vibrant and active force in the community as late as 1946, twenty-one years after her passing, embodying her spirit of fellowship and grace; and

 

 

WHEREAS, her artistry as a community photographer captured the daily lives, celebrations, and faces of our residents, providing a unique visual bridge to our past and preserving the spirit of Hobart for generations to come; and

 

WHEREAS, her body of work remains a vital cultural treasure, and from August 22 through September 27,2026, a curated exhibit of her historical photographs will be displayed for public viewing to honor her enduring contribution;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, I Mayor Aaron Kaufman on behalf of the Hobart Village Board of Trustees, do hereby proclaim August 22- September 27,2026 as Anna Carroll Heritage Weeks. We encourage all citizens to visit this exhibit, reflect on her life of service and creativity, and celebrate the legacy of a woman who saw the beauty in every Hobart story.
